in 1963 I went to St Martin's art school in Charing Cross Road. on fridays we went out sketching at various locations - I remember spending 3 weeks sketching a single block of fluospar at the natural history museum for one project, but the tutor really liked to take us to borugh market, and this photograph was taken at one such session. I discovered later that the reason the tutor liked to take us there was because The Market Porter was opne all day on a speecial licence for the benefit ot guess who? the market porters of course
